Résumé
Sedimentological and geochemical study of Senonian Formations in Tunisia has led to discovery of Maastrichtian organic-rich facies. The latter contain up to 2.8% total organic carbon and have a medium petroleum potential (up to 5.9 kg of hydrocarbon compounds per tonne of rock). These facies, which have been deposited in a restricted depressed zone, may reflect an oceanic anoxic event near the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary.
